From a childhood swing, chains, jewelry, photographs (archived or by me), mouse traps, flowers, fabric, boots, and more created “Cornered.” My use of objects is intentional because I feel what better way to convey the feeling of being objectified than using the objects that layer our bodies, specifically my body, every day. My use of personal objects like my vintage skirt, sparkly boots, and jewelry signifies that this piece is an extension of me. Beyond that, this piece is an object now, and so does that mean so am I? Who knows... to others perhaps, but now I have control of my own corner. To embrace these materials and the objects that comprise me is important to demonstrating this feminine urge of control. This control manifests itself within our own bodies and the small items we possess in this endlessly chaotic world.
